If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and former Orlando Pirates defender, Abednego Netshiozwi.
Paris St Germain v Man City (Champions League)
League positions: PSG 1st (French Ligue 1) & Man City 4th (English Premier League)
Useful facts: The only time these two sides have met was in the UEFA Cup way back in 2008, where the game ended in a 1-1 draw. PSG’s form looks better than City’s, however, with four wins from their last six games, as opposed to the Citizens’ run, which has seen them win only two during that timeframe.
Abednigo Netshiozwi: I think Man City will win.
VfL Wolfsburg v Real Madrid (Champions League)
League positions: Wolfsburg 8th (German Bundesliga) & Real Madrid 3rd (Spanish La Liga)
Useful facts: With no meetings between these clubs’ in recent history, Real Madrid are a side in great form, as Zinedine Zidane’s men are currently enjoying a six match winning streak, while Wolfsburg have won only three in that time. Madrid, who haven’t lost a single game in the Champions League this season, have also kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight games in the competition. However, Wolfsburg are on a four match winning streak in the Champions League.
Abednigo Netshiozwi: Madrid will win.
Borussia Dortmund v Liverpool (Europa League)
League positions: Borussia Dortmund 2nd (German Bundesliga) & Liverpool 9th (English Premier League)
Useful facts: Dortmund haven’t won any of their three previous games against the Reds, with Liverpool winning two of those games. However, the Germans are in great form, having won all of their last five games and not lost a single one since 19 December last year. Liverpool, on the other hand, haven’t won any of their last three games.
Abednigo Netshiozwi: Liverpool victory.
Athletic Bilbao v Sevilla (Europa League)
League positions: Athletic 6th (Spanish La Liga) & Sevilla 7th (Spanish La Liga)
Useful facts: Sevilla have come out on top in three of their last six meetings with the Basque club, with Athletic winning two of those games. Athletic are on a three-match winless streak and Sevilla have lost both of their last two, including a 4-0 loss to Real Madrid. Sevilla have also kept five clean sheets in their last seven Europa League matches and haven’t lost 13 of their last 14 in the competition.
Abednigo Netshiozwi: I think Sevilla will win.
Braga v Shakhtar Donetsk (Europa League)
League positions: Braga 4th (Portuguese Liga Sagres) & Shakhtar 2nd (Ukrainian Premier League)
Useful facts: Shakhtar have won both of their recent matches against the Portuguese club and have won four of their last six games, while Braga have won three in that timeframe. Shakhtar are also on a three-game winning streak in the Europa League.
Abednigo Netshiozwi: Braga.
