Hendrick ‘Pule’ Ekstein has attracted interest from overseas, as the midfielder is expected to sign a new deal, after leaving Kaizer Chiefs.
Ekstein parted ways with Chiefs in April, with the club confirming at the time that the attacking midfielder’s contract had been terminated with immediate effect.
Having been strongly linked with Orlando Pirates and Highlands Park, among other clubs in Mzansi’s top flight, indications are that there is interest also from overseas in the 28-year-old player.
“There is interest in Pule Ekstein from overseas. The player’s camp have been receiving calls enquiring about the boy’s availability during this transfer window,” said the source.
“One of the clubs has showed serious interest in wanting to sign the player. They have been calling the player’s representatives all the time, even at night. The club is from Azerbaijan. It’s one of the top clubs there. It’s Qarabag, which is Dino Ndlovu’s former club,” added the source.
Called for comment, Ekstein’s representative Palesa Mkhize confirmed interest in the midfielder, although he would not divulge the details of the clubs interested in the player.
“Look, I’m not in a position to mention any club at the moment but I can confirm that there is interest from overseas in the player. I have to discuss everything with the player and he is the one who should advise me on what has to happen next regarding his next move,” said Mkhize.
