Helsingborg Happy To Keep Mahlangu

With the European transfer window now closed, it looks as though Helsingborg’s South African midfielder, May Mahlangu, will be remaining at the club.

There have been several rumours circulating in recent months with regards to the future of the Bafana Bafana man and despite interest from Germany, France and Turkey, the 23-year-old will remain in Sweden, for now.

Di Roe’s sporting director, Jesper Jansson, told the Siya crew that the club are happy to hold on to the midfielder.

He said, “There were a lot of rumours around him, but no offers came in. It’s not good for the player, he’s a quality player and now has to stay in Sweden for 12 months. In the winter window it’s more difficult, we either sell or we don’t but we have no problems, we now get to keep a good player for another 12 months.”

Mahlangu, a product of Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, has been in fine form since breaking into Gordon Igesund’s Bafana starting line-up and could well continue to attract interest from all over the world if his current form continues.
