Jele: We Did This As A Team
Happy Jele lauds Orlando Pirates teammates for CAF qualification
Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele has said that there are no individuals who deserve to be singled out for the turnaround made by the Soweto giants this season.
The Buccaneers managed to turn their fortunes around in the current campaign following two back-to-back seasons where they ended their seasons outside of the top three to clinch second place which comes with an automatic qualification to next year’s CAF Champions League.
“This was a team effort by the players and the staff,” said the Jele to the Siya crew.
“We had important players who raised their hands and did well for the team, however, the turnaround was because we did this a team. I want to congratulate my teammates for the hard work and determination they showed even when things were not going our way we continued giving our best.
“The team can only build from hereon. We can only get stronger from now on,” added the Bucs Captain, stating that his side will need to show the same attitude in the next season as well as the CAF Champions League.
Jele, who only a couple months faced an uncertain future at the club due to delays in contractual talks over his stay at the Parktown-based club will be leading the Sea Robbers against Free State Stars on the club’s last league game of the season.
“I want to encourage all the Bucs faithful to come out in their numbers for our last game of the season. It would be nice to play in front of a packed Orlando Stadium on Saturday,” he concluded.
