Thirty-two are teams set to participate in a new midseason tournament will be hosted in Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape, at the end of December.
The inaugural New Year’s Cup, organised by The Marketing and Events Firm, one of South Africa’s leading events companies specialising in sports events. And tournament CEO, Sifundo Klaas has said that he believes the event will boost the economy and tourism in the region.
“We believe that this tournament will help sport development, boost the economy and tourism in the Province,” he told the Siya crew.
Klaas added that he would also like for the tournament to have a wider reaching effect on South Africa as a whole.
“We want on behalf of our Province (EC), to stage an event that will send ripples of confidence from all 9 Provinces – an event that will create a social cohesion and economic opportunities throughout the country. This is our ambition," Klaas concluded.
