Gould: Chiefs Stronger After CCL Exit

Hulking Kaizer Chiefs central defender, Morgan Gould, has explained why he thinks the club will be stronger following their exit from the Caf Champions league.

Chiefs crashed out after a controversial 3-2 aggregate defeat to AS Vita in the second round. Nonetheless, there still appears to be plenty to play for as the Glamour Boys are firmly in contention to win a second league title in a row.

The club have two games in hand over Mamelodi Sundows, and will no doubt want to win them both to create some daylight at the top of the standings. However, Gould has also warned that Wednesday's (April 2) game against struggling Golden Arrows musn't be approached with any complacency.

He told the club's official website, "We are emerging stronger from this disappointment. The game against Arrows is one of the important games for Chiefs this season. It is going to be tough especially because they want points to survive relegation. We have to switch over from CCL to the league."

The experienced defender added, "We are focusing on our approach. We know their strengths and weaknesses and I am sure they know the same about us. It is going to be a mountain to climb for us just like in any other game. We are on course to defend our title. We are focusing on what we can affect. The chasing pack is doing what they have to do according to their plans. We are determined to keep winning every game we play."

Wednesday's clash with the Backheel Boys gets underway from 19h30 at FNB Stadium.
