Reports coming out of the media are that out-going Bafana Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund, could be heading overseas following news that SAFA won’t be renewing his contract when it expires in August.
Igesund began his South African national team coaching reign in September 2012, and may have taken charge of the team for the last time in their Australasia tour where Bafana drew 1-1 against Australia and then registered a 0-0 stalemate against New Zealand.
While SAFA are currently on a mission to find the man to succeed the 57-year-old mentor, Igesund is also rumoured to be on the wishlist of a couple of clubs, both locally and abroad.
Recent speculation is that he could be headed to Saudi Arabia. However, Siya sources have indicated that such a move is unlikely, although they have confirmed that a move abroad for the former Moroka Swallows coach is on the cards.
It is not yet clear where he will eventually end up, but what seems certain is that the four-time league winning coach is not short of potential suitors, and could be lining up as coach in new colours come the new season.
