SuperSport United head coach, Gordon Igesund told the Siya crew that only Kaizer Chiefs legend, Teenage Dladla, comes close to Barcelona's Brazilian skipper, Neymar.
Igesund who's Bafana side faced Neymar in the 1-0 and 5-0 defeat in 2012 and 2014 respectively, explained that players of his calibre only come along every 20 years.
When asked whether any current Mzansi star would be comparable to Neymar, Igesund couldn’t think of any current player but mentioned the former Chiefs star.
“To be honest it’s not easy to find anybody who is like him. You find these players only every 20 years,” he said.
“To compare him is very difficult, but one former South African comes to mind – Teenage Dladla. He had similar abilities and could glide passed players.
“He was absolutely outstanding but due to Apartheid and everything around that time, he never had the opportunity to make it to the world stage.
“But like I said, it is very difficult to compare Neymar, Messi or Ronaldo to anybody else – they are unique and they are very special players.”
Nelson “Teenage” Dladla made 408 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs, scoring 125 goals between 1976 and 1988.
The 60-year-old currently works in Mamelodi Sundowns' youth structures.
