The loss was Ajax's first in five games.

Luvhengo Mungomeni had the first chance of the game in the sixth minute, after making a good run forward down the right, but his final shot went over Brandon Petersen's goal.

Edward Manqele put Swallows 1-0 up two minutes later, as he was played in by Lerato Chabangu, and his shot from the edge of the area beat Petersen.

Siyabonga Nomvethe played in Manqele in the 12th minute, but Petersen was able to make a reflex save to stop the striker's attempt at a chip over him.

Keagan Dolly had two efforts at goal in a minute, his first in the 22nd minute, forced Greg Etafia to knock it out for a corner, and the second, a long range effort, Etafia was able to punch clear.

In the 38th minute Lebohang Manyama played in Tashreeq Morris, but he was unable to round Etafia who gathered at his feet.

Three minutes later Chabangu had a chance on the other end, but his long range effort went over the bar, and at half-time the score remained 1-0 to Swallows.

Nomvethe made it 2-0 to Swallows in the 51st minute, as he shot into the left corner from a good square ball from Dikgang Mabalane.

In the 59th minute substitute Eleazar Rodgers found himself with the ball in the box, but his back was to goal and his attempt to turn and shoot saw his effort go wide.

A minute later substitute Stelio Ernesto had a chance for Ajax, but his long range attempt went high and wide.

Ernesto had another chance in the 68th minute, but his attempt from the right, was saved by Etafia.

Dolly pulled one back in the 71st minute, after Rodgers forced a save out of Etafia, but he could only parry the ball into Dolly's path, who made no mistake to make the score 2-1.

But Swallows weren't finished, and Chabangu made it 3-1 in the 80th minute, as he scored from a set piece, with a good curling shot into the bottom left corner.

Nomvethe had another chance in the 83rd minute, but Petersen was able to make a save, and seconds later substitute Felix Obada had a chance from outside the box, but his shot sailed wide.

Ajax had a chance in stoppage time through Manyama, after the Swallows defence allowed the ball to bounce in the box, but his shot was cleared off the line by Rudi Isaacs.
