Impressive Win For Arrows In Spain
Golden Arrows Win Their First Game In Spain
Golden Arrows’ reserve team got off to a flying start on their Spanish tour, with an impressive victory in their first match on Monday.
As their prize for winning the MultiChoice Diski Challenge again this year, Arrows have been sent to Spain, where they are scheduled to play games against some of the top teams.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit is scheduled to return to South Africa on March 27. In their first game in Spain on Monday afternoon, Arrows beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1.
With Arrows losing 1-0 early in the game, Nkosikhona Dube came on as a substitute to score the two goals that helped the KZN outfit secure the important win.
Arrows’ next game will be against Barcelona Reserve side on Thursday. The team’s coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi says the team had to settle quickly in Spain, following their long flight from Mzansi.
“We spent a lot of time in the flight. So from the originally planned light training session we then decided that we take a walk instead,” said Vilakazi on the team’s arrival in Spain.
Arrows’ striker, Yusuf Jappie, has spoken about the feeling of getting a chance to watch Real Madrid play against Girona at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this past weekend.
“That’s something else hey. I can’t describe how I am feeling. It’s really something amazing to go watch Madrid at home,” said Jappie.
