Arrows & Sundowns Player Ratings

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Golden Arrows and the Mamelodi Sundowns players, following Abafana Bes’thende's win.

Golden Arrows Ratings:

Phile Zikalala: 6

Pulled off one stunning save in the first half to deny Billiat, but proved to be very shaky as the game went on and struggled to deal with cross coming int the box.

Nkanyiso Mngwengwe: 6

Went to sleep in terms of marking for the Sundowns goal, but was solid for most of the game and frustrated the likes of Malajila and Billiat.

Matome Mathiane: 6

The Arrows skipper put in a solid showing in the heart of the defence, put in a match winning block in the first half to deny Biliat a goal and hardy gave anything away at the back.

Thembela Sikhakhane: 6

Started off slowly and was the victim of a few late challenges, however he got stronger as the game went on and also managed to show the attacking side of his game.

Siyabonga Dube: 6

Managed to keep Billiat quiet for most of the first half at right-back, although he didn't get forward as much as he would like.

Gladwin Shitolo: 6.5

One of the live-wires for Arrows throughout the game, he was unlucky not to get his name on the score-sheet, as Denis Onyango denied him on a few occasions.

Nkanyiso Cele: 6

Put in workman-like shift in the middle of the park, he didn't have a big influence going forward but was key defensively.

Andile Fikizolo: 6

Fikizolo was key to the Arrows midfield with his energy down the flanks, although his final ball was up to par and he was eventually replaced in the second half.

Deon Hotto: 7

By far the best player on the pitch, he was a constant threat and was vital in the counter attacks, while he is also picked up the assist for Chapman's goal.

Mabhuti Khenyeza: 7

Continued to trouble the Sundowns defence, had to drop deep on a few occasions to get the ball but got his name on the score-sheet via the penalty spot.

Rodney Ramagalela: 6.5

Ramagalela proved to be real threat in the first half, gave Sundowns defensive pairing lots of problems with his pace and he won the penalty in the first half.

Substitutes:

Ryan Chapman: 7

Proved to be a super substitute for Arrows, he nearly scored with his first touch in the 60th minute but he scored a nice goal to secure the three points for his side.

Mwape Musonda: 6

Made an immediate impact with his pace and power but he had to be replaced again, after picking up a knock.

Edgar Manaka: NA

Was not on the field long enough to receive a rating.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ratings:

Denis Onyango: 6.5

Despite ending up on the losing side, Onyango was key in keeping the score at 2-1, the Ugandan pulled off a few superb saves throughout the game.

Siyanda Zwane: 6

Didn't offer much going forward and was a bit shaky in the opening stages, while his positioning was poor for Ryan Chapman's goal.

Tebogo Langerman: 6

Managed to get forward on a few occasions down the right flank and put in a solid showing defensively.

Soumahoro Bangaly: 5

Not the best of debuts for the Ivorian defender, he was all over the place in the first half, nearly scored an own goal and he was at fault for the penalty Sundowns conceded in the first half.

Rama Mphahlele: 6

Along with Bangaly, they struggled to Ramagelela in the first and the communication was poor in the first half, although Mphalele's performance improved once Arendse came on.

Keagan Dolly: 6.5

Started the game off very lively, managed link up with Malajila on a couple of occasions, while he's crossing from the flanks were also impressive.

Teko Modise: 6

Kept things ticking in the middle of the park but hardly had a big influence in the final third and was replaced in the final 15 minutes.

Bongani Zungu: 5

This is a game Zungu would want to forget, he was hardly involved in the game and he picked up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes.

Hlompho Kekana: 6

Managed to hold his own even with the dismissal of Zungu, although he didn't have a big impact going forward.

Khama Billiat: 6.5

Started off quietly in the first half but he was a constant threat in the second half and picked up the assist for Themba Zwane's goal.

Cuthbert Malajila: 6

It proved to be a frustrating afternoon for the Zimbabwean, who hardly had any joy in front of goal and he was eventually replaced at halftime.

Substitutes:

Themba Zwane: 7

Brought on at the start of the second half and made an immediate impact, by scoring the equaliser, while he was a constant threat down the right flank, where he put in a number crosses.

Wayne Arendse: 6

Replaced Bangaly in the second half and his introduction made the Sundowns defence more stable. Arendse can be happy about his cameo in the second stanza.

Fiston Abdul Razak: 6

Was presented two chances during his 15-minute cameo in the second half, with both headers sailing wide of the mark.
