In confirming his exit from Chippa United, Posnett Omony has explained why he is no longer with the Port Elizabeth club.
As reported by the Siya crew, Omony has left the position he held at Chippa as the team’s goalkeeper coach.
Having served as the team’s goalkeeper coach under Serbian coach Vladislav Heric last season, the Ugandan has found no place in the new-look technical team that is headed by Dan Malesela, who has returned to the club for the new season.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Omony confirmed that he had no choice but to leave the Chilli Boys after the club opted against renewing his contract.
“Yes, I’m no longer with Chippa United. My contract ends this weekend. It was not extended. There were so many changes at the club. My concentration was mainly on finishing the season with the club strong so I didn’t bother about the (contract) renewal processes. I decided to see through my contract and wait to hear from the club. But with the changes that happened I didn’t hear much and I decided to let it be and maybe something else will be opening up in the future,” said Omony.
Omony has a lot of experience on South African football in him, having played for different clubs in the PSL and NFD in more than 10 years since his arrival from Uganda in 2005.
The 35-year-old says he would be pleased for an opportunity to bring the best out of goalkeepers in a club either in the PSL or NFD.
