Why Chiefs’ New Coach Isn’t On The Bench This Weekend
Giovanni Solinas Won't Be On The Bench For Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs may have a new head coach at the helm for the new season, but it will be Patrick Mabedi on the bench for the Amakhosi this weekend.
Chiefs take on Buya Msuthu this morning as they get their Maize Cup campaign underway, with the Glamour Boys looking to defend the title after they won it during their preseason campaign around this time last year.
Giovanni Solinas was announced by Chiefs on Friday after penning a two-year deal with a one-year option, but due to the Italian needing to obtain a work permit, it could be a while before he is able to take his place on the bench.
On the club’s official website following the announcement, part of their statement read, “The new coach will not be on the bench for Saturday’s Maize Cup.”
Meanwhile, Motaung went on to say, “Solinas will sit on the bench as soon as he receives his work permit.”
If Chiefs beat Buya Msuthu at Orkney’s James Motlatsi Stadium they will then face either Chippa United or Free State Stars.
