Solinas: “Wits Taught Chiefs A Lesson”

Giovanni Solinas Wasn't Impressed With Kaizer Chiefs' Last Performance

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 09, 2018 12:00 PM
Giovanni Solinas has admitted that Kaizer Chiefs defeat to Bidvest Wits as ‘a big lesson’, but insists that they will learn from it ahead of their clash with his former club.

The Italian is still waiting for his first win as head coach of the Glamour Boys since his appointment last month, with his two games so far ending in a draw and a defeat. Now, with a spot in the next round of the MTN8 up for grabs, they need get a result.

Steve Komphela’s 2017/18 campaign got underway in the exact same manner last season as the Glamour Boys drew their opening game before losing their second Absa Premiership match, and the 50-year-old will be eager to make sure they don’t come off second best in the first round of the MTN8 for the third year in a row.

Speaking to the club’s official website following the defeat this week, Solinas said, “We must learn from this game and we need to have a reaction. We have to show character.

“It was a tough match against a good opponent. They came and played counter-attack. They had three chances and scored three times. We created more chances, but only netted once.

“I am disappointed. We were all in a good mood after our great performance against Mamelodi Sundowns, only conceding from a penalty. However, today, the distance between the players was too big, leaving too much space for the Wits players to run into.

“We win together, we lose together. Today was a big lesson, but we must now focus on our next game.”

Chiefs host Free State Stars at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Still early days,no need to press the panic button,I still don't understand why the issue of hiring the coach took forever resort, the management once again failed us,they knew some donkey years that Steve's contract is ending, what was their plan all along? Or maybe they wanted Khompela to continue because at one stage they were happy with his work despite winning nothing for three full seasons,so as Khosi fans we can't be emotional and blame the coach who missed the most important part of the season which is pre season.. let's be patient with him given the circumstances

Seems like this coach doesn't feel any pain after their loss. Zebras will chow him alive & with garments he is wearing. At least he must pretend or come next game he'll be baptized with chairs.

Parker is not a problem and he is willing to give his best, the coach is to blame for playing Parker out of position, Parker is playing more as a winger in these past 2 games but he slows down the team, Parker is a striker and the coach is expecting him to do the job if Mahlasela or Maloangane, as for Shabba, I don't know why zebras fans are crying about him, I mean Shabba is the best player at Zebra, the problem lies with the coach, he doesn't have a plan for Shabba, he doesn't know how to utilize him,the coach is just fielding Shabba and not giving him instructions on how to play, you have Ntshangase who slows the game and Shabba is a fast man, Ntshangase must play just behind the striker, the same position Billiat is playing, and Billiat must be an out and out striker, find someone like Jayiya to play in d middle and Katsande is good where he is just that his style suits only if you play with three defenders, yes 3 at the back and have katsande to watch over them in the same role, Shabba left wing and Maloangane/Mahlasela right wing, I'm telling you zebras will kill teams but I'm 100% sure that Celina will never think of this...and one last thing zebras must stop blaming Mabedi because it's not his fault it is the head coach's fault,

Sometimes a student knows better than a teacher. Kaizer chiefs the greatest team in south Africa, khune the best keeper in the world. Solinas the best coach. Khama the unchallenged man of the match. Position ten, trophies none. I suspect media and their commentators are Agents of Maas deception
