Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Giovanni Solinas, has praised his troops after their opening day draw with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Glamour Boys impressed at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday as the Absa Premiership got back underway, with Ramahlwe Mphahlele scoring the first goal of the 2018/19 season.
Chiefs were pegged back as Ricardo Nascimento hit home from the penalty spot to make it 1-1, however, Solinas is happy with the performance from his side.
The Italian told the club’s official website, “I am proud of my team. We played well and we could have won the match if we would have buried our chances.
“It tells a story to start the season and to be able to compete with the reigning champs, who had already played several highly competitive games in the African Champions League. We created several opportunities to win, coming close a number of times.”
Chiefs' next game sees them face Bidvest Wits at the FNB Stadium, and Solinas will be eager for his side to take more of the chances they create in their second game.
