Solinas Defends Chiefs, Promises Finishing Training
Kaizer Chiefs’ Giovanni Solinas has defended his team as their wait for an Absa Premiership wins continues, saying that they should have beaten Maritzburg United on Friday night.
Despite having a numerical advantage for the bulk of the game following Siphesihle Ndlovu’s sending off for the Team of Choice, the Amakhosi were unable to make it count and went four games without a victory at the start of the 2018/19 season.
The poor run of games means that Chiefs are now enduring their worst start to a league campaign since the 2006/07 season when they drew all four matches, and will be hoping for that to change next week when they face Steve Komphela’s Bloemfontein Celtic.
Solinas, speaking to the club’s official website, said, “This was a game we should have won… It hurts to drop points when you know you had a good chance to win.
“Things like this happen in football. We did everything we planned, but we couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. We have a week before the next game. We have training sessions and we will work a lot on finishing.
“We play good football and we get close to the box with ease, which means that with a bit of calmness and determination we will get the goals.”
The Glamour Boys are currently 12th on the league table after four games and are one of only four sides who are yet to pick up a single win so far this campaign.
