Amakhosi Coach: Baroka Didn’t Play In The Weekend…

Giovanni Solinas says that the fact that Baroka didn’t have to play in the MTN8 helped them get a result against Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership last night.
Chiefs fought back from being 1-0 down against Bakgaga on Tuesday, with Siphiwe Tshabalala’s free kick cancelling out Daniel Cardoso’s own goal in the first half of the encounter.
The Amakhosi are still on the hunt for their first win of the 2018/19 league season, but Solinas has praised his side for the way they bounced back in Polokwane this week, saying they ‘reacted very well’.
He told the club’s official website, “We played very well in the first half. We controlled the game and created a few possibilities.
“Baroka didn’t play in the weekend and they were fresh, while we looked a bit fatigued after Saturday evening’s match against Free State Stars and that was a big factor, especially towards the end of the game.
“We conceded through a defensive blunder, but we reacted very well to equalise shortly thereafter.”
Meanwhile, on the topic of Friday’s clash with Maritzburg United, the Italian said, “We will prepare for the next game… We have a good enough squad to cope with the situation. We will continue to rotate some players, but we can’t change too much.
“The players work hard at training and I am confident that we will start playing much better once we start having more sessions to work on, for example, tactics. As for now, we will continue to focus on the recovering process to be ready for the next game.
“I am happy with the way my players are responding, although we need more consistency to compete for league and cup honours.”
Chiefs take on the Team of Choice at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.
