Giovanni Solinas says that he’s happy with his forwards at Kaizer Chiefs, despite them drawing a blank against Chippa United over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys missed an opportunity to climb up the table on Saturday as they drew 0-0 against the Chilli Boys, and it is now seven games in a row that the club have scored one goal or less.
With 13 games played, Chiefs are currently fifth on the Absa Premiership log standings and have played more games than seven of the other top eight clubs, suggesting that they will need to pull up their socks if they’re to mount any sort of title challenge in 2018/19.
Solinas isn’t too worried though, telling the club’s official website, “I am happy with my forwards. I am confident that they will be right there at the top of the goalscorers list at the end of this league marathon. Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat, Bernard Parker, Ryan Moon, Dumisani Zuma and our other attacking players are capable of striking anytime.”
Meanwhile, on the recent absence of Siphelele Ntshangase, the Italian insisted that the midfielder will be back as long as he works hard.
He said of Ntshangase – who missed the last two games, “Ntshangase is an important member of the team… He is good on the ball and he gives us options, but we have gone for ball-winners in the centre of midfield for the past few games. I am sure that with hard work, Siphelele will improve in that role.”
Chiefs are now beginning their preparation for another Soweto Derby as they face Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout semi-final on October 24th.
