Solinas’ Chiefs Message: The Supporters Played A Big Part
Giovanni Solinas has thanked Kaizer Chiefs’ supporters for turning out in their numbers in Cape Town, inspiring the club to their first Absa Premiership win of the season.
The Glamour Boys were in rampant form over the weekend as they put four goals past Cape Town City to secure Solinas’ first victory in the league, with Siyabonga Ngezana, Khama Billiat x2 and Philani Zulu grabbing the goals in a 4-1 win.
Now, having jumped up to fifth place on the table, Chiefs will be eager to put their rough start to the season behind them and kick on as they look to end a three-year trophy drought at the club.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, Solinas said, “From the bench to the field of play, the spirit was great… The supporters played a big part in this victory and we thank them for all the encouragement. I also wish to thank my players for the good result and the excellent performance.”
The Italian also explained that the recent international break worked in their favour, saying, “The best of Kaizer Chiefs is still to come. We used the FIFA international break to fix a lot of areas. The boys worked hard to prepare for this match.”
Chiefs, who have now scored as many goals in six games (10) as they scored in 12 games last season, now travel to Free State Stars tomorrow night as they look to try and win back-to-back games for the first time since May.
