Chiefs Coach On FSS: They Aren’t Business As Usual!
Giovanni Solinas says that he supports Free State Stars after they introduced him to South African football – but only when they’re not playing Kaizer Chiefs – as he prepares to face them tonight.
Solinas’ former employers and his current ones will go head-to-head in the Absa Premiership at 19h30 this evening, with Chiefs looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since May.
Going into the game on the back of an impressive 4-1 victory over Cape Town City, the Amakhosi will be in high spirits in Bethlehem, and their Italian coach has been impressed with the work they’ve been doing.
He told the club’s official website, “The commitment is high and the concentration is excellent, I am happy with the players’ effort in the training sessions… Free State Stars are a difficult side and we will respect them. The game will be special, as playing against my former club in their backyard will be emotional.
“Stars introduced me to South African football. So it can’t be business as usual. I support them when they play against other teams. We need to win at home and away. We will use the same philosophy. We want to dominate and play well. We will play attacking football.”
Meanwhile, Solinas also confirmed a few absences for the Glamour Boys, saying, “Leonardo Castro is out with an ankle injury. Erick Mathoho is recovering from a groin strain and Joseph Molangoane’s road to recovery is at the stage of gym work to strengthen.”
