Confirmed: Amakhosi Coach Lands Permit, Debut v Downs
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that new head coach, Giovanni Solinas, will be able to take his place on the bench this weekend when they face Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Italian has had two previous stints in the Premier Soccer League with Free State Stars, and it was expected that he would have his work permit in time for the opening game of the 2018/19 season, that has now been confirmed.
Solinas had to sit in the stands for the Amakhosi’s preseason clashes with Masandawana and Cape Town City earlier this month as he awaited the correct documents, but will now be able to take over from Patrick Mabedi when the Absa Premiership gets underway.
Official confirmation of the situation came from the club this afternoon, with the Amakhosi’s Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, saying, "We are happy that the coach has received his papers. Solinas has been familiarising himself with the setup and thanks to now having his work permit, he will have a chance to rally his troops from the bench, starting this weekend against Mamelodi Sundowns.”
