Chiefs New Coach & His PSL Record…
Giovanni Solinas Doesn't Have The Best Record As He Joins Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs finally have a new head coach following the arrival of Giovanni Solinas, and he will be hoping to substantially improve his PSL record once his tenure with the Glamour Boys officially gets underway.
Solinas is currently waiting for his work permit in South Africa before being able to take his place on the bench with the Glamour Boys, and watched from the stand as they beat his former club, Free State Stars, via a penalty shootout on Saturday.
At this point in time it remains to be seen whether the 50-year-old will be on the bench as Chiefs take on Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday, although the club will no doubt be eager to get the matter sorted as soon as possible.
Looking at his record in the Absa Premiership so far, the Italian has a record of eight wins, eight draws and 13 losses from his 29 previous games during his time during two stints with Ea Lla Koto, and will be well aware of the fact that that won’t be enough now that he’s joined a club of Chiefs’ stature.
He picked up a total of 32 points from a possible 87, with a points per game average of just 1.10, although the fact that – in principle – he will now be working with better players should be something that helps him improve on that record with the Amakhosi.
Solinas has signed a two-year deal with Chiefs with a one-year option, and after three trophyless seasons the club will be looking for him to hit the ground running in an attempt to try and bring back the glory days.
Do you think Solinas is the right man for the job at Naturena?
