Chiefs New Coach & His PSL Record…

Giovanni Solinas Doesn't Have The Best Record As He Joins Kaizer Chiefs

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 16, 2018 07:55 PM
Kaizer Chiefs finally have a new head coach following the arrival of Giovanni Solinas, and he will be hoping to substantially improve his PSL record once his tenure with the Glamour Boys officially gets underway.

Solinas is currently waiting for his work permit in South Africa before being able to take his place on the bench with the Glamour Boys, and watched from the stand as they beat his former club, Free State Stars, via a penalty shootout on Saturday.

At this point in time it remains to be seen whether the 50-year-old will be on the bench as Chiefs take on Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday, although the club will no doubt be eager to get the matter sorted as soon as possible.

Looking at his record in the Absa Premiership so far, the Italian has a record of eight wins, eight draws and 13 losses from his 29 previous games during his time during two stints with Ea Lla Koto, and will be well aware of the fact that that won’t be enough now that he’s joined a club of Chiefs’ stature.

He picked up a total of 32 points from a possible 87, with a points per game average of just 1.10, although the fact that – in principle – he will now be working with better players should be something that helps him improve on that record with the Amakhosi.

Solinas has signed a two-year deal with Chiefs with a one-year option, and after three trophyless seasons the club will be looking for him to hit the ground running in an attempt to try and bring back the glory days.

Do you think Solinas is the right man for the job at Naturena?

@DopeZN, about Kaizer seemingly forgetting the Coach 's names, I will attribute that to old age.

Not like Pitso had a very good record when he joined Sundowns. And don't forget he took Free State Stars to two semi final In one season. And Chiefs has good players it's a fact not an opinion.

Muhsin came, people said he's a farm owner and unknown. Dolezar, people said he can't speak and ended up hiring him. Baxter, they said his record is not a good one to coach Chiefs. You will all be surprised. Let's wait and see.

Honestly!! A coach become good because of the good players. Zidane became a good coach because of Ronaldo, Marcelo, Benzema, Bale, Ramos, etc . So if Bobby thinks that to sign Billiat and these two guys will make Solinas a good coach... Honestly, I'm afraid Solinas might be worse than Komphela. Bobby stated that he is not yet done in the market. So we were hoping for at least another 3 big names like Antony Laffor, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Zambian striker Idris Mbombo, to reinforce the squad. But now Bobby is quiet and it seems he is done with this Transfer Window. Honestly, we can't rely only on Billiat. What if he got injured during the season. Come on, Let's face it... If other teams can sign nine quality players, why can't we???
