Kaizer Chiefs head coach Giovanni Solinas has confirmed the role for Philani Zulu in his line-ups.
Zulu has been in scintillating form since returning to the line-ups for Amakhosi after his disappointing start to the season due to a lack of game-time.
During the 4-1 win for Chiefs against Cape Town City last weekend, Zulu provided an assist for Khama Billiat’s second goal of the match, before scoring his after coming on as a second half substitute.
Having been handed his first start of the season during Tuesday night’s match against Free State Stars, Zulu was again on the scoresheet as Amakhosi defeated Ea Lla Koto 2-0 at Goble Park Stadium.
From being a defensive player, who had previously been playing more as a left-back, Zulu seems to be enjoying a new lease of life in an offensive role under the Italian tactician this season.
“Philani Zulu for me is an attacking midfielder. He’s an offensive winger and that is his job. Philani Zulu can play on the left and he can play on the right because when playing on the right he comes inside with the right foot and with the left foot he can shoot or give the assist. Philani is left footed. He is a good player,” said Solinas.
Zulu will be expected to continue with his impressive form against AmaZulu, should he be selected in Solinas’ team for this evening’s match at FNB Stadium.
