Chippa United have completed the signing of Rudiger Gilbert to further strengthen Wilfred Mugeyi’s squad for the remainder of the season.
Gilbert impressed Mugeyi and his technical team after training with the side during the recent training camp held in Port Elizabeth.
The 26-year-old confirmed with the Siya crew that he has been signed to bolster the team’s right-back position.
“I have signed a contract with the team. I signed today (Friday). They are trying to register me now so that I can play. I am fit to start playing for the team immediately,” said Gilbert.
The Upington-born player has been without a club since parting ways with Free State Stars last year. He had an unsuccessful trial at Chippa’s neighbours, Ajax Cape Town, before teaming up with the Philippi-based outfit.
Gilbert has signed a short-term contract up to the end of the season with an option. He is hoping to make his debut for the side when they travel to the Free State for the game against his former employers at Ea Llo Koto.
