Chiefs Welcome Back Midfield Maestro

George Maluleka Is Due To Return For Kaizer Chiefs

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 21, 2018 09:03 AM
Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a boost going into the final stretch of the season, with a key midfielder on the verge making a return to action.

George Maluleka hasn’t played for the Glamour Boys at all in March as he recovered from an ankle injury, but has still played more minutes this season in the Absa Premiership (1508) than all but five of his teammates.

Now, with the club looking to keep their slim hopes of challenging for the league title alive and push on in the Nedbank Cup, Steve Komphela is likely to be able to call upon ‘Mido’ for their next game after the international break.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chiefs’ first team physiotherapist, David Milner, gave an update on the midfield maestro.

Milner said, “Mido has recovered and is fit again… He is fully participating in training sessions. Of course, he’s not match fit as yet, but it’s still a way to go before our Nedbank Cup quarterfinal, which will only be played in about ten days and he might be ready by then.”

Chiefs’ next game sees them pitted against Barok in the Nedbank quarterfinals, with the match set to take place on Easter weekend.

This is one of the players that had his career destroyed by Steve Khompela, Before arrival of Steve, Mido was an offensive player but now he is defensive

@EDMOR79 Steve is crazy over clean sheets. The guy is far too concerned about the strengths of opponents. He cares less about his own strengths in attack. He has a very negative mind set. I wish we could say we could've converted draws into win, but that wouldn't have happened because the games were designed to be draws. We don't attack till we become desperate.

@Glamour boys akaKhosination: Mido is a thinking utility player, that small boy Meyiwa can't match his brains. Our defence needs sum1 who covers a lot of ground like Maluleka, he still has a role to play for the Khosi nation. This coach plays him too deep unlike when Baxter was our coach.

How many games have Chiefs win since Maluleka's injury? And some of our fans do not want him.

@Xolisa{khosificated}, please don't wish Maluleke a career threatening injury, football is his source of income. I agree with you that he was wrongly referred to as Maestro in the article under discussion.

Now George will just walk into the team because Steve, instead of strengthening the team and instilling some imagination going into the last third, he will bring back Maluleka to strengthen defense. And will probably bench Castro and start Moon thinking that it will solve the scoring problems. He fails to notice that our scoring problems stems from the lack of creativity in the middle. Shabba isn't giving us that. Though he can defend, shabba is an attacker by nature. Steve, creativity means Ntshangase. It is only with him that we would be able to score a rats or dunusa-like kinda goals. Truth be told. We have nothing much more to lose. Allow Ntshangase to blend in. Correct his weaknesses while he is playing.

Mara really we can't all be wrong vs the opinion of just one Steve Khomphela. Maluleka give us nothing. He's average. Am certain that under a different coach, even the like of Jayiya might live up to expectations. I can't wait to see the back of Steve. Never in the history of this club has this team been such an embarrassment to the multitudes of its supporters. Three seasons is way too much. We won only a third of our games, drawn half. In fact when Steve packs his bags, Maluleka must follow him.
