Weeks Out: Maluleka Joins Chiefs’ Injury List
George Maluleka Faces Weeks Out For Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs will be without George Maluleka for the rest of this month, with the midfielder’s groin injury ruling him out until sometime in October.
The 28-year-old has been a regular for the Glamour Boys this season as they battle for form in the Absa Premiership, however as reported by the Siya crew yesterday, he now faces a spell on the sidelines.
As expected, Maluleka has been ruled out for a number of weeks by Steve Komphela after limping off in the 1-1 draw with Bidvest Wits, and it has been confirmed that he won’t be back at all this month.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, Komphela said, “George Maluleka is ruled out for three weeks with a thigh strain… However, we welcome Erick Mathoho back into the squad. ‘Tower’ has travelled with the team.
“It is a nice headache to have ‘Tower’ back, considering we played against Wits without cover at the back.”
Meanwhile, on Maluleka’s replacement, he said, “We will consider some changes in the midfield area in the absence of ‘Mido’. We have a choice to go for either like-for-like or change the formation. We are comfortable that we will field a solid line-up that will win the match.”
Chiefs face Maritzburg United this evening.
