Chippa United’s CEO, Peter Koutroulis, says that they have signed Nigerian striker, George Akpabio, and that they’ve sorted things out with Ajax Cape Town.
There has been a word of words in recent weeks over the situation of the 21-year-old, with Ajax claiming that he was still contracted to them and would not be with Chippa next season.
However, Koutroulis has now revealed that the Nigerian has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Chilli Boys, bringing the dispute between the two teams to an end.
Speaking to the media today, Chippa’s CEO said, “George Akpabio has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with us, we’ve sorted it out with Ajax and we have a very good relationship with them.”
Akpabio put in a great showing for Chippa last season in their push towards PSL promotion netting in 13 goals, and their new coach, Kosta Papic, will be hoping to get even more from the striker in the 2014/15 season.
Meanwhile, Koutroulis has also confirmed to the crew that they have signed 23-year-old Zimbabwe defender, Eric Chipeta.
