In the absence of captain Lucky Lekgwathi, defender Ayanda Gcaba is expected to partner Rooi Mahamutsa in the centre of the Orlando Pirates defence when Bucs take on Esperance in the second leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final on Saturday.
As reported by the Siya crew yesterday, Lekgwathi was left behind when the team departed for Tunisia last night.
Lack of match fitness has been cited as the reason why the Bucs captain didn’t travel with the team, with Pirates PRO Mickey Modisane informing the crew that the Bucs technical team felt that Lekgwathi will only be ready to play in the Telkom Knockout match against Golden Arrows, as well as the Soweto derby against Chiefs.
Pirates will face Arrows in the TKO next Wednesday and then take on their arch rival, Chiefs, in the league on Saturday.
Meanwhile, defender Happy Jele will wear the captain’s armband for Pirates in the match against Esperance in the absence of Lekgwathi and Siyabonga Sangweni.
