Kaizer Chiefs defender, Siboniso ‘Pa’ Gaxa, will continue in his efforts to give back to his home town of Durban this month, when he hosts this year’s annual Gaxa Cup.
The U19 youth tournament has been going on for many years now, with the Amakhosi defender providing a platform for youngsters in Kwamashu to showcase their talents in front of an audience.
With the tournament beginning on the 26th of June, 32 teams will fight it out with each other for two days with a lucky few making it into the finals.
The tournament will culminate on the 30th of June, at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Kwamashu, when the best of the best will be crowned as the 2013 Gaxa Cup champions.
Speaking to the Siya crew, the Bafana Bafana international explained that his main aim is to give back to the place where he grew up.
The 29-year-old said, “Of course the main thing for me is to give back to my community. I also want to give hope to the younger ones, to try and give them hope for a good future and make sure that the community can see that I’m giving something back, the young ones need to be inspired.”
This year’s tournament is the fifth of its kind, with the first Gaxa Cup taking place in 2009.
