Gavin Hunt has admitted that Bidvest Wits don’t have the kind of quality that Mamelodi Sundowns have, but that they were better organised yesterday evening.
Hunt masterminded Sundowns’ first defeat since August as Sibusiso Vilakazi scored the only goal in a 1-0 win last night, and he said that he was extremely happy with how his players handled the encounter.
Wits ended Downs’ 15-game run while extending their own to eight games, and Hunt said that during the game his side never really looked in any danger.
Speaking to the media, Hunt said, “We just want to take things one step at a time. I thought we played very well, we were really good. Our shape was good, our balance was good, I was very happy with how things went.
“We can’t worry about anyone else, we’ve just got to worry about ourselves. We’re still far off them (Kaizer Chiefs), they’ve also got a game in hand, but we’ll take things one game at a time and see how things go.
“There was no real danger on us during the game, we played the way we wanted to and worked hard for it. We did a lot of work on the training good ahead of this game and that’s where it all starts.
“We haven’t got the quality that they’ve got, but we worked on our organisation.”
Hunt’s side are now just seven points behind log leaders, Chiefs, and will be hoping that the Amakhosi slip up against Ajax Cape Town this evening.
