Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt admits he was surprised to see his goalkeeper Ricardo Goss named Man of the Match against Orlando Pirates
The Clever Boys record a draw for a second successive Absa Premiership encounter following their goalless draw with the Soweto giants on Saturday night.
Goss picked up the Man of the Match accolade, a decision which left Hunt surprised as he feels Pirates had only one big chances.
"First of all how does Ricardo Goss win Man of the Match? It baffles my mind. I thought we should have won comfortably tonight again. Ja, one chance where he made the save but I don't think he did anything else after that. So ja it's disappointing," Hunt told SuperSport after the match.
"I've said this the same thing the whole week, more than ever tonight we should have won comfortably. We had more than enough chances. We dominated but the longer the game goes, they are going to get a chance and he makes a save but it's not man of the match stuff.
"We had players tonight who were magnificent, Cole Alexander again, five-star performance in midfield. Keegan Ritchie who has not played for ages, I played him in midfield, magnificent. Deon Hotto should have had a hat-trick, Haashim Domingo should have had a hat-trick with the chances they missed.
"So ja it goes like that, where we are three games, no one has played Chiefs, Sundowns [and Pirates] in seven days, so fantastic. Two days, go again. A few more players, we'll see where we are. Great performance, I can't fault them, they've given me everything this week.
"I hate the word luck, you make your own [luck]. You got to be scoring the chances you create at this level, we didn't. We'll go again and try to create more. We still have seven more games to go, every two days. We knew, when we trained, we planned for it. We've played 11 v 11 every two days to try and get us into the swing of things for the last couple of weeks.
"With everything that has gone on, what they [the players] are giving me everyday, they are an honest bunch and that's all you can ask from footballers but it wasn't to be again tonight."
