Gavin Hunt Has Revealed Why He Thinks His Side Lost To Orlando Pirates
Bidvest Wits suffered a massive 4-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates last night, with Head Coach Gavin Hunt revealing why he thinks his side should have walked away with more from the encounter.
Wits have found themselves looking over their shoulders once again, as they are not mathematically safe from the relegation zone.
The Students are 12th placed on the league standings, just two points ahead of Ajax Cape Town, who are sat in 15th place.
Speaking to the media after the game, Hunt revealed that he thinks his side deserved more.
“Well things didn’t go well, I think motivation, I don’t think it was a lack of motivation here tonight,” Hunt told the media.
“I mean, the mistakes were… as I said, if you look at the first three goals, own goal, penalty and a pass from the centre-back to the striker, I don’t think it was a lack of motivation, we kept going, we played… with the score line, I mean you have to hold your head up.”
“We were beaten 4-0 but it’s a score line… you know I’m not going to say those famous words, it’s a reflection of is it true? Maybe not.”
“We had a couple of opportunities we should have scored, you know… don’t say we should have won the game but we could have been much closer, 4-3, 4-4, who knows? I don’t think it is that, I don’t think motivation…. That word is a… I think the players are certainly… they took a lot of us last week, you know… but that’s no excuse,” he added.
