Sundowns Claim Second Place In Gauteng Cup

Gauteng Cup
Result: Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 Jomo Cosmos
Date: 27 March 2016
Mamelodi Sundowns finished their Gauteng Cup on a positive note as they beat Jomo Cosmos 2-1 to finish second behind winners SuperSport United.
The Brazilians were off to the ideal start as they netted two goals in the space of eight minutes. The first arrived in the second minute when Ntandoyenkosi Ngubane volleyed home from close range.
Katlego Mashego then produced the second goal for the Chloorkop outfit six minutes later as he absolutely thundered home the ball, leaving the Cosmos goalkeeper with no chance.
Sundowns were cruising with their two-goal cushion but Ezenkosi's chance of finding their way back into the clash improved dramatically in the 37th minute when Lifa Hlongwane headed home after a long throw-in picked him out in the box.
Cosmos tried to find the equaliser but the Brazilians' defence were up to the challenge and held on to their fragile lead.
