Gauteng were crowned U21 SAB League champions, after they defeated USSA 4-1 on penalties on Sunday afternoon.

The clash went to penalties, after it ended 3-3 after regulation time at the Nike Football Training Centre.

USSA raced into a two-goal in the opening 15 minutes thanks to a brace from Tshivhase, before Guateng hit back with  Yusuf Bunting scoring a hat-trick.

The game was sent into a shoot-out after Bongani Mabena fired home an equaliser for USSA with two minutes remaining.

However, it was Guateng who held their nerve in the shoot-out to triumph 4-1 over the defending champions.

“ Today’s final was a great ending to a very exciting, action-packed tournament. As a brand, we are excited about what the future holds for the development of South African football, our partnership with SAFA continues to impact the lives of many young people through grassroot programmes like the SAB U21 National Championships. From the beginning of the tournament to today’s final, we are pleased with how we have played a role in the lives of these young men," Project manager: Better World Kalashni Narainsamy said in a press release.
