Marumo Gallants have responded to recent reports suggesting that one of their star players has secured a move to one of Gauteng’s big teams in the Premier Soccer League.
Reports in local media have revealed that Gallants’ Nedbank Cup hero Phillip Ndlondlo was set to leave the club amid reports that he has attracted interest from Gauteng’s big hitters.
However, Gallants have moved swiftly to dismiss these reports informing the Siya crew that the player has been a part of their squad that is currently in preparations for the start of the 2021/22 season.
"The boy is here with us at training and that is all you need to know,” Rufus Matsena, the club’s media manager told the Siya crew.
“The only offer that we know of is from the media. Whoever is behind this must stop. It is destabilizing the player. We have even heard that he has done a medical at Pirates,” he said.
When asked whether the 26-year-old has been handed a new contract by the club to fend off interest from bigger teams, Matsena revealed that the player is contracted to the Polokwane based outfit until 2023.
“He’s got two more seasons with us why would we give him another one,” Matsena said.
Ndlondlo made 19 appearances for Gallants last season, scoring three goals as the Polokwane based outfit clinched the Nedbank Cup, while finishing in 12th position on the DStv Premiership log.
