SuperSport United midfielder, Mogogi Gabonamong, has been rewarded for his fine form in the league with a new contract by the club.
It had previously been reported that the 30-year-old was due to leave Matsatsantsa at the end of the season, due to a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, Gabonamong then managed to break into Gavin Hunt’s first team in the second half of the club’s PSL campaign and finished the season as their captain.
The player’s agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, confirmed to the Siya crew that the midfielder will be with SuperSport next season.
He said, “Gabonamong has been fantastic, he’s played a lot in the second half of this season and finished it as captain. I’m very proud of him and it’s been tough for him, he fought and ended up doing a really good job. SuperSport have now given him a one-year extension on his contract and all the involved parties are very pleased.”
The Botswana international will now be hoping for even more game time next season as he attempts to impress whichever new coach comes in to replace Hunt, following his departure to Wits.
