Eymael And Chiefs Rumours, Stars Aware Of Interest
FS Stars Comment On Rumours Linking Their Coach With Chiefs
Free State Stars are aware of the interest from other clubs in their head coach, Luc Eymael.
The Belgian tactician, who has done an impressive job as the head coach of Ea Lla Koto, has been linked with an exit from the Bethlehem outfit. There are indications that Eymael is in demand and that several clubs are keen on reinforcing their technical teams for next season.
Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs linked with the coach, as rumours suggest that current Amakhosi head coach, Steve Komphela, could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season.
Speaking to the media during a Nedbank Cup press conference this week, Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena commented on rumours linking Eymael with other clubs.
“I trust Luc, and I trust him in a sense that the time I have spent with him we are both frank with one another. We sometimes clash with ideas, we sometimes fight but it’s all in the name of bettering ourselves,” said Mokoena as quoted on Stars’ official website.
“Luc comes with European mentality and sometimes it does not sit well with the South Africans. I really do trust him and there are times when he gives me enough reason to trust him,” he said.
“He has been approached by other clubs other than Kaizer Chiefs and I know about it. They sometimes call him in my presence and his answer will always be ‘gentleman I am happy where I am and I want to achieve something here’.
“It gives me a confidence that he has found a home here at Free State Stars and as a club, we try everything in our powers to make him happy. Of course, we have our limitations in terms of his requests and if it was up to him he will probably try to sign Ronaldo and I will say no and instead of signing Ronaldo we will sign Siphelele Mthembu.
“Thus far I am happy how he has conducted himself at the club, managing the team and players; and the relationship with the entire Free State Stars family,” concluded the club official.
As confirmed by the Bethlehem outfit, Eymael has one year remaining on his contract with the club.
