Free State Stars have signed a Congolese midfielder who is seen as a replacement for Nhlanhla Vilakazi in coach Luc Eymael’s squad.
Following the exit of Vilakazi, who had been one of the team’s top performers from last season, Ea Lla Koto have signed Congolese midfielder, Cesaire Gandze as his replacement.
Gandze has been playing for AC Leopards in Congo Premier League. The 29-year-old has the experience of playing in the CAF Champions League and in the CAF Confederation Cup. With Stars preparing to take part in the Confederation Cup this year, Gandze is seen as the player to help Eymael’s team in the continental competition, as well as in the PSL.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Eymael confirmed the signing of the central midfielder whom he speaks highly of.
“We have signed Cesaire Gandze. He’s a number eight – a box to box player. He’s an international player and a regular in the national team of Congo-Brazzaville. He won the Confederation Cup in 2012 with AC Leopards. He also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League one year later,” confirmed the Belgian coach.
Gandze is said to have been signed on a one-year deal with an option to extend for another year by the Bethlehem outfit.
