Ex-Chiefs Defender Among Stars Departures
Free State Stars Part Ways With Three Players
Free State Stars parted ways with three more players ahead of the 2017/18 PSL season.
The Bethlehem club has confirmed parting ways with former Kaizer Chiefs defender Simphiwe Mtsweni, as well as Thokozani Sekotlong and Kenyan midfielder Joseph Okomu.
“Free State Stars can confirm the official departures of three first-team players ahead of the new Premiership season.
“Ea Lla Koto is in the process of building a new squad under head coach Sammy Troughton with the target of achieving a memorable campaign without the fear of relegation.
“And now General Manager Rantsi Mokoena has confirmed the rumours circulating in the media over the past week.
“Three players have moved on and are no longer part of the long-term plans at the Bethlehem-based outfit,” Stars stated on their official website.
“I can confirm that we have released another three players namely defenders Simphiwe Mtsweni, Kenyan Joseph Okomu and utility forward Thokozane Sekotlong. The club wishes the players the very best of luck in their future endeavours,” Mokoena told the club’s website.
In June, Stars announced a clear out of players as the likes of Nhlakanipho Ntuli, David Nkausu and Angelo Kerspuy parted ways with the club.
