Gone! Stars Coach Becomes PSL’s First Coaching Casualty Of 2017/18
Free State Stars Have Parted Ways With Sammy Troughton
Sammy Troughton’s status as head coach of Free State Stars has lasted just two games. The Irishman parted ways with Ea Lla Koto following last night’s game.
Troughton was appointed at Stars early last month, following their decision not to continue with Serame Letsoaka, although his spell in Bethlehem has not lasted long.
The Siya crew reported yesterday that the writing was on the wall for the 53-year-old, with Luc Eymael back in the country and linked with the job, and Siya sources have now revealed that Troughton has been informed that he will not be staying on at the club.
As things stand there has been no confirmation of whether Eymael will take over from Troughton, although at this stage he is the hot favourite and is believed to have been lined up by Stars.
The club lost their first game of the season against AmaZulu before snatching a late draw at Bidvest Wits last night, however the point was enough to secure Troughton’s future as he becomes the first casualty of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership campaign.
