Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Francis Chansa, believes that Brighton Mhlongo should have stayed with the club to continue with his progress under coach Milutin Sredojevic and his technical team.
Mhlongo left Pirates in July last year to join Chippa United. At the Port Elizabeth outfit, the 27-year-old has shared the goalkeeping duties with Daniel Akpeyi.
“The goalkeeper who was supposed to stay at Pirates and grow is the boy at Chippa United – Brighton Mhlongo. He was supposed to be given a chance to grow with the club. He was supposed to learn from the experienced and senior goalkeepers at the club. The boy comes from the family of development of Orlando Pirates. He knows the culture of the club. His presence at the club was going to make a difference.
As reported by the Siya crew, Mhlongo is expected to return to Bucs at the end of the season, as revealed by sources, due to the shot-stopper on a one-season loan stint with the Chilli Boys.
Mhlongo has made eight Absa Premiership appearances and in the Nedbank Cup so far this season.
