Moroka Swallows have announced that the club’s former Executive Chairman, Sylvester Masinga, passed away this past weekend at the age of 86.
According to a statement on official Swallows website, Masinga passed away at Lesedi Private Clinic on Saturday morning after being admitted there.
“On behalf of the Swallows family and soccer fraternity in general we extend our deepest condolences to the Masinga family, friends and all those whom he shared his life and time with. May his soul rest in peace," said Swallows Media Manager Sipho Xulu.
Meanwhile, PSL CEO, Brand de Villiers, extended his condolences to the family of the late Masinga.
“It is always sad to bid farewell to some of the individuals who made a contribution to our football. We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Masinga and the Moroka Swallows family at large,” said De Villiers in a statement.
Masinga’s funeral will be held this Thursday at The St-Margaret Roman Catholic Church, in Zone 3, Diepkloof and will start at 09h00.
He will then be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery in Northcliff.
