Top Award For Micho Or Pitso, Says Former Bucs Star
Former Pirates Midfielder Weighs In On Coach Of The Season Award Nominations
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Gerald Modabi, says that there are only one of two options to choose from for the PSL Coach of the Season.
Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and Pitso Mosimane have both been nominated for the top accolade for their outstanding work with Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.
The two coaches have been nominated alongside with Fadlu Davids, who has done amazing work as the head coach of Maritzburg United.
“It is actually funny that I got to work with both of them (Sredojevic and Mosimane) at the different times of my 13-year career. On Micho, like Pitso, he works very hard. He lives football. His heart and soul is in the game. He does a lot of work behind the scenes. He makes sure that he finds out about the players’ well-being, personally and their work. He deserves everything that’s happening to him. To come back and go on to finish in second place by a mere five points, he has done well,” said Modabi.
“Sundowns could have tripped in any moment of that two-way horse race in the last four games of the season. He (Sredojevic) could have gone on to win the league. I’d be glad if either one of them (Sredojevic and Mosimane) wins the Coach of the Season award. But with Pitso having won it before, it would be nice for Micho to take this one for the work he has done,” added the former midfielder.
The winners of this season’s PSL awards will be announced in a ceremony on May 29 in Johannesburg.
