A South African football administrator has expressed delight after winning the league title with his club abroad.
Having previously worked for Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars among other clubs during his 20 years in football administration, Senzo Mbatha took up a role at Simba SC in the Tanzanian Premier League this season as the club’s CEO, and has contributed to the team's league title victory.

“I am filled with pride that this was achieved in a foreign country, the pressure to produce results in football is so huge, and to make an impact the way we have in the first season is the only tool that one can use to drive the club to higher levels,” Mbatha told the Siya crew.

“It is exciting, however there are much bigger milestones ahead, like CAF Champions League. We have an FA Cup final over the weekend as well, so the double is also on the cards. Having to stabilize such a big club and win the confidence of the fans is something that is not easy. While we are professionalising the club, winning trophies makes the process much easier. There is still a lot to do though, but we celebrate our small victories. This is my second league title at a PSL level. This though, is sweeter because it’s a history for a South African administrator in a different country,” said the experienced football administrator.
Mbatha had previously been linked with the role of PSL CEO, before being appointed by the Tanzanian giants.
