Soccer Laduma can confirm that former Kaizer Chiefs and Manning Rangers midfielder, Isaac 'Shakes' Kungwane, passed away at the age of 43.
Kungwane’s passing was confirmed by his colleague Farouk Khan, whom he worked with at SuperSport’s Extra Time show.
“It’s true that Shakes is no longer with us. He fell sick two weeks ago and then it looked like he was getting better. Two days ago he was admitted to the ICU and he sadly passed away today,” Khan told the Siya crew.
Meanwhile, Kungwane’s other colleague Robert Marawa and former co-worker Thomas Mlambo also confirmed the news of his passing away.
“Afta being in ICU for the past 2 days it's really sad to have to announce the sad passing away of a brother & colleague RIP Shakes Kungwane,” wrote Marawa on Twitter.
“Shakes Kungwane has passed away...a long time colleague and friendliest man in football. Rest in Peace... you will be missed deeply,” wrote Mlambo.
Soccer Laduma send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Kungwane.
May they find solace in knowing that God is with them during this trying time.
