Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Farouk Khan has picked his best signings of the 2021/22 season, in a list including the likes of Grant Kekana, Keagan Dolly and Goodman Mosele.
There were quite a few players who stood out in their first seasons with their clubs. As usual, Sundowns went into the market to add onto a squad that had won four titles in a row and the players they brought in had a big impact as they clinched an unprecedented fifth consecutive title.
Kekana, who joined from Tshwane rivals SuperSport United, is one of those who stood out. Now a nominee for DStv Premiership Defender of the Season, Kekana showed how much his game has grown since making a move to the Yellow Nation.
While Chiefs have nothing to show again in the cabinet, there are a few positives. One of them has to be the signing of Dolly, who came in after a four-year spell in France and lifted an Amakhosi attack that had lacked the spark in the previous campaign under Gavin Hunt. His presence also seemed to bring back some life to the performances of Khama Billiat, who showed glimpses of his old self again.
Dolly bagged eight goals and four assists, standing out as arguably Amakhosi's best player.
Mosele was heavily linked with a move to Amakhosi, but ended up in the black and white half of Soweto with the Buccaneers. A goal on debut against Stellenbosch in August last year was probably a sign that he would have a good campaign. And he indeed had one, playing a key role both for the Buccaneers both on the domestic front and the continent.
But who else caught the eye of Khan?
