Having been Steve Komphela’s assistant at Chiefs for one season, from July last year to the end of the 2016/17 season, the former Ghana defender had his contract with Amakhosi terminated, as confirmed by the Naturena club on June 08.

Reports from Ghana indicate that Paintsil will do television work during the FIFA Confederation Cup.

“Former Ghana defender John Paintsil starts his punditry job on the FIFA Confederation Cup on Kwese TV on a memorable note as he celebrates his birthday today. Paintsil, one of Ghana's most capped players is celebrating his 35th birthday today, a day he starts as a pundit on Kwese Sports in the build up to the Confederation Cup which starts in two days.
