A Former Free State Stars coach has sent an emotional message to the relegated Bethlehem-based club.
During the PSL’s end of the season awards held in a glittering function at Durban’s ICC on Sunday, PSL chairman Irvin Khoza had a special message for Ea Lla Koto chairman Mike Mokoena to encourage him to lead his team back to South Africa’s top flight.
Stars former coach Luc Eymael, who led the Free State outfit to Nedbank Cup triumph during his tenure, has sent a message to the club to wish them to return to the PSL.
“I’m very sad about this relegation, because one year ago we won the first trophy for the club since 24 years. So, it is very sad to see the club going down to NFD, but we knew very well at the beginning of the season that it will be very difficult to maintain the standard,” Eymael told the Siya crew.
“It’s what happened, unfortunately, and I think some players have not been replaced like we should have wished. Unfortunately, it’s like that. I think Free State Stars have been a bit unlucky. Like I said to several players and some members of the board, I wish them to bounce back quickly to come back in the PSL,” added the Belgian coach.
