A former Cape Town City and Maritzburg United attacker has sealed a sensational R7 million move, the Siya crew has been informed.
Ugandan, Allan Kateregga spent some time without a club after parting ways with Iraq Premier League outfit Sporting Club Erbil in December 2019.
The Siya crew reported at the time that there was talk about a possible move to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (now Marumo Gallants) however the deal fell through.
Now, the latest news reaching the crew’s desk is that the 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Congolese topflight outfit, Football Club Saint Éloi Lupopo.
Kateregga will wear the jersey number 10 at the club, which is believed to have forked out around $500 000 (±R7.1m) to land the services of the highly-rated attacker, which will see him also become the highest-paid player in the region.
The crew reached out to Kateregga’s representative Samuel Celubra, who was delighted with his client’s move.
“It’s a win-win for both sides. The club and the coach really needed a player of his calibre. The coach has referred to him as the missing piece of his puzzle, so they are aiming for big things next season and they really want to win and make a name on the African continent,” Celubra told the Siya crew.
“It’s a groundbreaking record for both club and country. Allan is a top player, a top athlete and I believe that he is capable of handling the pressure that comes with such a big price tag, so let’s wish him the best at his new home and we hope all goes well for him,” he added.
