Rest In Peace Tshepo Tomanyane

It is with a great deal of sadness that Soccer Laduma has learnt of the passing of former Chippa United player Tshepo Tomanyane.

While he played for a few different clubs in his career, it was at the Chilli Boys that Tomanyane caught the attention of many in the fraternity, having joined the club from Jomo Cosmos.

In 2012, when Chippa was still based in Cape Town and campaigning in the second tier, Tomanyane was one of the players who played a pivotal role in helping the club to gain promotion from the National First Division to Mzansi’s top-flight, after doing well in the play-offs.

Having started at Witbank Spurs in 2008, Tomanyane went on to play for Carara Kicks, Cosmos, African Warriors, Chippa, Polokwane City.

He retired in 2014, following a stint with Maluti FET College. Tomanyane was 39 at the time of his passing.

“Yes, my husband passed away around 8pm on Monday. We were in our bedroom when he started complaining about feeling discomfort and he said he wanted to sleep,” his wife Jane Tomanyane confirmed to the Siya crew.

“When I asked him what the problem was, he said he was feeling too hot. I thought that maybe it was something from soccer, because as he was on course to start a career in coaching, he still liked to play on Sundays for the local teams. He asked me to bring the children and he told them that he couldn’t breathe properly, and he assured them that I as their mother would take good care of them. We have five children. When I realized that he was getting serious, I rushed him to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. It must have been five minutes after our arrival at the hospital when a doctor called me aside and asked how I knew him, and I told the doctor that he is my husband, and the doctor broke the sad news that my husband was no more. In his last words, my husband told me that he loved me and the children,” she said.

Soccer Laduma sends condolences to the family and friends of Tomanyane and everyone affected by his passing.
